The Board of Rock Lake United Church Camp, Inc. has had to make the very difficult decision not to open camp again this summer, due to government restrictions regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. We are hopeful we will be able to re-open for the summer of 2022.

Even though Rock Lake Camp is closed, we are still continuing to make improvements and upgrades, thanks to funding from various agencies and terrific community support. A grant we recently received from the Pilot Mound and District Foundation helped to purchase new road signs giving directions to the Camp (see photo below).
Thanks also to Pembina-Manitou Foundation and the Morden Thrift Store for their generous donations towards the Camp. These funds will help cover the costs of improvements to the staff house. Together we can all keep Rock Lake Camp going!

THANK YOU TO THE FOLLOWING ORGANIZATIONS FOR YOUR GENEROUS SUPPORT OF ROCK LAKE UNITED CHURCH CAMP 2019-2020
Manitoba 150 – 50/50 Grant
Pilot Mound Foundation
United Church Mission & Service Grant
Thanks to all individuals, churches and U.C.W. groups for your generous donations. Also, to all that help in many other ways. We would not be able to continue to improve our facility and programs without your support!
We want to keep everyone informed about what’s happening at the Camp. Even though we had to close this summer because of COVID-19, the Board has still been meeting regularly, and continues to work at making improvements to the Camp.
This year would have marked our 135th anniversary. We had a fundraiser and Open House celebration planned. Unfortunately, because of COVID-19 we were unable to proceed, as the Camp had to close due to government restrictions and for health and safety concerns. The closure impacted the Camp in many ways. Although we were approved for grants from both the Winnipeg Foundation and the Hometown Green Team, we were unable to accept them as they were contingent upon camp being open. Regardless of having no income, we still had expenses to cover, such as property taxes and insurance, as well as the usual utilities and maintenance.
On a more positive note, we received several generous donations, which helped to cover a large portion of our expenses. We also were fortunate to have received several grants to help make improvements to the Camp, such as building a new dock, updating the lighting in the A.R.C. building to be brighter and more efficient, and replacing flooring in some of the staff house rooms and Lodge. Our goal is to complete the flooring in the staff house by next summer. Rentals of the camp facilities were numerous enough that they would have made a difference to the budget. Weekend rentals had also become popular. If you have an interest, or know of someone who might be interested in renting, please go to our website at www.rocklake.com, and click on the “Rent the Camp” link at the top of the page to get more information.
Of the many ways the current pandemic has impacted our camp, to us the most distressing is that so many campers and staff have missed out on amazing experiences and memories of Rock Lake Camp. We look to the future in anticipation of being able to once again create a safe, supportive, engaged and fun environment for our campers.
Respectfully, Rock Lake United Church Camp Board
Our mission is to provide a camping environment which encourages freedom to learn about Christian Faith and growth, within a fun, caring and safe community.
We encourage this by offering activities, games and worship providing leadership opportunities where campers learn:
- to conserve and preserve God’s creation
- about acceptance of self and others
- to develop friendships.
The camping program is run by dedicated full-time staff supported by counsellors. Together they create a warm, fun-filled atmosphere where campers of all denominations and non-religious background are able to enjoy the outdoors and grow spiritually.
GLORY TO GOD, WHOSE POWER, WORKING IN US, CAN DO INFINITELY MORE THAN WE CAN ASK OR IMAGINE AT ROCK LAKE UNITED CHURCH CAMP!
ROCK LAKE UNITED CHURCH CAMP NEEDS YOUR HELP!
The COVID-19 Pandemic we are currently facing is a having a devastating impact on businesses, and organizations, and Rock Lake United Church Camp is no exception. The Board was forced to close the camp for the summer due to government restrictions. However, even though we have no income from registrations or renters, we are still faced with a number of expenses that need to be paid, with taxes and insurance being two examples. These expenses alone add up to over $13,000.00!
ROCK LAKE UNITED CHURCH CAMP NEEDS YOUR HELP!!!
Rock Lake United Church Camp has been in operation in one form or another since 1885. It’s been attended by generations of people. Many of you, and your children, have happy memories of time spent at the camp. Without support from the community, there is the potential that the Camp will not be able to re-open. Please consider a monetary donation toward the camp. Any and every donation to the Camp will help to ease this deficit we are facing. You can either mail in a cheque to:
Rock Lake United Church Camp, P.O. Box 395, Crystal City, MB R0K 0N0
or you can donate via e-transfer from your financial institution through our e-mail address: firstname.lastname@example.org. Donations of $20.00 or more will be issued a tax receipt.
Don’t let the Camp be another COVID-19 victim. Please help keep Rock Lake United Church Camp going!
